GIS Training

Rural GIS offers a range of training courses in GIS including a basic one-day introduction to GIS, a three-day in depth course in GIS and customised training to suit the needs of an individual or organisation. If you simply want to be able to create attractive maps illustrating features or details that are relevant to your business or other activities, or if you require to set up more complex spatial databases, undertake spatial analysis, perform queries and utilise 3D functionality, all these applications can be included according to your needs.
Courses (prices are per head, excluding travel and subsistence expenses)
If you are interested in any of our training courses please use the Contact Us form to get in touch and we will get back to you as quickly as possible to discuss your requirements and organise a suitable date.
Our GIS courses are generally centred on the Quantum GIS software, generally referred to as QGIS. QGIS is a user friendly Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) licensed under the GNU General Public License. QGIS is an official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). It runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, Windows and Android and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities. The latest release is QGIS 2.8 Download it here.
Further information about the QGIS project is available on the project website including links to the relevant documentation, tutorials and various reference materials. An excellent introduction to GIS, based on an earlier version of the QGIS software, is available on the website here, or you can download a pdf version here.
